The Toque Macaque (locally known as Rilawas) is an monkey species endemic to Sri Lanka, and a large part of Polonaruwa, an ancient capital city to the country's north east.
The most distinctive feature of these monkeys, apart from their pink faces, is their hair. They all seem to have neatly clipped fringes which, along with their other human-like features, makes them almost comical to look at. That is, until they stare straight at you.
